Jewish Democrats, White immigrants, and Biden cocaine accusation: Trump faces little scrutiny anymore

CNN anchor Jim Acosta expressed astonishment at the lack of consequences faced by former President Donald Trump for making statements that would typically end another person’s career, such as accusing President Joe Biden of using cocaine before a speech.

During a segment on CNN Newsroom, Acosta highlighted several recent Trump controversies, including his cocaine remark, comments about Jewish supporters of Biden, and remarks regarding immigrants from predominantly white countries.

Acosta suggested that if a typical politician had made these statements, it would likely lead to serious repercussions, but Trump seemed to face little scrutiny.

Perhaps we no longer castigate Trump for some of his rhetoric as he spews nasty, senseless jargon daily and has been doing so since 2015. However, it’s that kind of behavior that has alienated a lot of people who refuse to give him – or the MAGA agenda – any chance whatsover… And never will.

… AND FOR GOOD REASON.

CNN analyst Joe Walsh agreed with Acosta’s assessment and attributed it to the media’s normalization of Trump’s vile behavior.

JIM ACOSTA: Because, I mean, Trump is doubling down on these comments that he made about, Jewish Americans who voted for Democrats. I think we talked about this the other day. You know, he’s doing it again. Here’s what he said.

DONALD TRUMP: Any Jewish person that votes for Biden does not love Israel. And frankly, it should be spoken to. A lot of it’s habit. Jewish people by habit and — they just they vote for the Democrats and Black people by habit vote for the Democrats.

JIM ACOSTA: I know, Joe, we’ve talked about this so many times, but if literally any other politician in the history of America had just said that one thing right there, they’d be gone! If he just said that one!

Never mind that Trump over the weekend said Joe Biden did cocaine before the state of the Union. And over the weekend he said, if you know, if we had, if only we could have people coming in from Denmark.

Just individually, each one of those things, if they had been said by any other politician in the history of the United States, they’d be gone! And Trump says that one thing, he’s doubling down and he– nothing, nothing will happen. There are no consequences.

JOE WALSH: Jim, you’re so right. Anybody else? Any other? I say this as a former candidate, you would be done! The media, not you. The media has done such a disservice in brushing by the hundreds of horrible things he says every day.

Jim, this is his secret sauce. He throws so much, pardon me, shit against the wall every day, and we normalize it! You nailed it!

I mean, yesterday, over the weekend, he said the president of the United States was high on cocaine during the state of the Union. Nobody talked about that. We can’t do this!

JIM ACOSTA: It was eclipsed. Yeah.

JOE WALSH: It was eclipsed. Yeah. (laughs)
