‘Hillary was right’: Former Trump supporter gives frank, ordinary American explanation for leaving GOP (Video Clip)

A former Trump supporter, referred to as Texas Trey, has shifted his allegiance away from the Republican Party and towards independents. He appeared on CNN’s “Laura Coates Live” to express his change of heart, acknowledging that Hillary Clinton, whom he previously opposed, was correct in her criticisms of Donald Trump.

Texas Trey admitted that he didn’t pay much attention to Clinton’s warnings at the time, but in hindsight, he sees the validity in her statements. He confessed that his support for Trump in 2016 was more of a vote against Clinton rather than genuine support for Trump himself. However, he was shocked when Trump won the election.

Now, Trey sees the upcoming election as a crucial moment for protecting freedom and democracy in the country. He views his vote as a means of safeguarding the fundamental principles and democratic processes of the nation. Trey expressed concerns about Trump’s authoritarian tendencies, citing Trump’s statements about wanting to be a dictator.

“To me it really boils down to this: we can vote for a man who by voting for him, those principles and processes will survive and we will live to fight another day in terms of being able to work through our issues,” said Trey.

“A vote for Trump runs the risk of losing all of that, to run the risk of the man said himself, he wants to be a dictator on day one. I don’t know if many dictators that are willing to give up authority once it’s granted to them.”

Trey added that like many Americans, he is of right-center on some issues and left-leaning on others.

In essence, Trey’s shift in allegiance reflects a broader concern for preserving democratic norms and preventing any erosion of the country’s foundational principles under a second Trump term.

Trey isn’t fully on board with President Biden either, but his comments are refreshing and sincere.
