Yeferson Cossio, a popular Instagram star, recently underwent lower limb lengthening surgery to increase his height by an additional 6 inches. He shared his journey with his Instagram followers, explaining that he spent between 200 million and 700 million Colombian pesos, equivalent to approximately $50,000 to $175,000, for the treatment.
The surgery, known for being excruciating and intense, involves breaking the patient’s bones, inserting a metal rod, and using an external device to slowly lengthen the gap between the bones multiple times a day.
The body produces new tissue in the gap as it opens up, eventually reaching the desired bone length. Specialists typically separate the bones by one millimeter per day, which means that Cossio endured painful lengthening for 152 days, or roughly 6 months, to achieve his new 6-foot height.
Following the surgery, patients undergo several months of physical therapy to adapt to walking with their new leg length. Cossio clarified that he pursued this surgery for aesthetic reasons, though he mentioned previous issues with his legs without revealing the true cause.

Many people have spent significant amounts of money on similar leg-lengthening surgeries for cosmetic purposes. Despite the pain and cost, some individuals, like Cossio, are willing to go through the procedure to achieve their desired height.
