PROPAGANDA & LIES: Russian schoolbook insists Trump lost in 2020 due to fraud

More Russian propanganda… What else is new?

In an intriguing development, a textbook designed for students in Russia presents the perspective that former United States President Donald Trump did not secure victory in the 2020 presidential elections due to alleged voter fraud committed by the Democrats.

Trump and his supporters, of course, are currently grappling with serious criminal charges, including allegations of meddling in the 2020 election that led to President Joe Biden’s victory. Moreover, it is worth noting that Trump’s repeated claims of election fraud have been thoroughly discredited by numerous courts and legal authorities.

Trump’s penchant for complimenting Russian President Vladimir Putin has also drawn criticism, especially considering his so-called condemnation of the invasion of Ukraine.

As a result, some Russian analysts believe that the Kremlin may have a preference for Trump over Biden in the upcoming
2024 elections.

Shocking, right? NOT!

Taking a moment to address the current reality, it is understandable that the Russians may want to disrupt American elections and cast doubt on results they dislike. However, their decision to include this conspiracy nonsense in their school textbooks raises questions.

Renowned University of Chicago professor, Konstantin Sonin, known for his insightful analysis of Russian politics, recently delved into the claims made in Russian textbooks regarding the 2020 election. During a discussion on X platform, Professor Sonin shed light on the accuracy and validity of these claims, providing valuable insights from his expertise.

Textbook makes unproven claims

In an interview with Newsweek, Sonin confidently vouched for the authenticity of the textbook. He further revealed that the book’s publication was officially announced earlier this year during a press conference, attended by both the book authors and Russia’s esteemed Minister of Education, Sergei Kravstov.

As much as we might like to think that people like Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene and other election deniers are complete and utter assclowns, it’s also important to remember that given their platforms of influence, they’re also a dangerous and ever-present threat to American democracy. As Thomas Jefferson wrote, “The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.”

Marc Bennetts, a foreign correspondent for The Times (UK), posted a page from the book on his X account. Not only did he share the image, but he also provided a translation of the text. According to him, the book stated that Trump lost the election “as a result of obvious electoral fraud by the Democratic Party.” These images have sparked discussions and debates online as people analyze and interpret their implications.

Via Bennetts, the excerpt included some unproven claims regarding President Biden.

“On (masked) Biden from the same Russian school textbook ‘His entire political career has been accompanied by corruption scandals. He and his family have commercial interests in Ukraine,'” wrote Bennetts.

Since the invasion of Ukraine by Putin in February 2022, President Biden has emerged as a steadfast ally of Kyiv. Recognizing the importance of supporting the war-torn country in its struggle against Russia, he has consistently pledged increased assistance. Furthermore, President Biden has publicly criticized Putin, referring to him as a “pure thug” and a “murderous dictator,” reflecting his firm stance against such actions.
