‘ChatGPT does most of my job’ — How AI is enabling savvy people to work 2 and 3 jobs

In today’s world, a new class of workers who are overburdened with their workload has been created. To ease the burden, they are now turning to AI-based language models like ChatGPT to do various job-related tasks.

“ChatGPT does like 80% of my job,” stated one worker via Yahoo Finance, while another, currently holding down four robot-performed jobs, says, “Five would be overkill.”

AI-based tools such as ChatGPT are gaining immense popularity but there are worries over their effect on the job sector worldwide. Experts fear that with chatbots being capable of taking over and automating certain jobs, people might become nonessential in the long run.

And when used alongside other AI tools like ChatGPT, RAD AI can also benefit marketers in countless ways as they can leverage it to identify the latest trends, comprehend customer behavior and refine campaigns for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

It’s not surprising there’s a group of innovative people who are finding ways to take advantage of AI technology to the fullest. As a result, they’re able to take on multiple jobs with the help of this advanced tech, without alerting their employers.

With the outbreak of coronavirus, remote work became a necessity and some employees managed to make the most of it. This gave rise to the ‘over-employed’ as they got to enjoy greater job flexibility. More and more people are turning to work-from-home opportunities which offer increased flexibility.

These enterprising folk have innovatively figured out a way to successfully handle multiple roles at the same time, thus taking advantage of these flexible arrangements.

Ben (name has been changed for privacy) faced a dilemma as his job entailed an abundance of writing, rendering it seemingly difficult for him to pursue two roles simultaneously. Initially averse to the idea of using ChatGPT, his attitude quickly changed when he found out that his friend actually managed to make it work. This piqued his interest and inspired him to try it out.

Ben then decided to use AI and immediately saw the potential of ChatGPT as a way to quickly get answers and create content, ultimately saving them buckets of time. The thought of using ChatGPT for a second job inspired Ben as he used the AI chatbot’s ability to assist him with writing cover letters.

Ben reported that GPT-4, the most recent edition of AI, has made his job significantly easier to manage.

“I can just tell it to create a story, and it just does it for me, based on the context that I gave it,” he told Yahoo Finance. But he still needs to tweak the text occasionally, as AI can make mistakes.

While the advances in AI bring worries of job displacement, industry experts such as Ben maintain that their experience is still required for the precision of AI-generated content.

Incidentally, Ben also uses ChatGPT to make it look like he works hard by typing messages to his boss in lowercase.

Mateo G., a 30-year-old from North Jersey working in the food and beverage production field, has been secretly utilizing ChatGPT for his job. Interestingly, his supervisor was unaware of this fact. The icing on the cake is how efficiently he’s been able to get his tasks done with it.

As reported by the New York Post, Mateo saved the day for his whole team when corporate executives pressured his supervisor to finish a huge spreadsheet project. He stepped in and completed it on time without any major issues. Without the help of ChatGPT, Mateo’s project would have taken weeks to finish.

However, utilizing this AI tool enabled him to complete it quickly and effectively within a much shorter timeframe than expected, and the outcome was also perfect.

ChatGPT is becoming more and more commonplace in the workplace, with many users trying to keep it secret from their supervisors. As per a February survey conducted by Fishbowl, an impressive 68% of ChatGPT users prefer to remain discreet about their usage.

Joël Kai Lenz, 27, a corporate writer based in London is a great example – he uses ChatGPT to save time on his work but keeps it under wraps. This speaks to the incredible potential of AI writing assistants in the workplace.

“I wouldn’t go out and scream it from the rooftops,” Kai Lenz said via Yahoo Finance, adding that he avoids the topic when clients inquire about how he completes his work so quickly.
